Photography: What Happened to the Plaster Image Transfers?

See the original post here for ‘how to’: Photography: Image Transfers onto Plaster Earlier this year I experimented with transferring some images onto plaster. I printed the images using a laser printer, coated them with acrylic gel, and transferred them onto a plaster surface. As planned, I kept them outside for the summer. They have…

Photography: Experimental Self Portraits With Screens

I saw this on my computer screen when I had been doing some reading on identity and  researching the way text and image interact. For some reason it jumped out at me. I liked the idea of using a photograph of myself with this label attached: NO NAME. My name has changed several times over the…

Photography: Image Transfers onto Plaster

Eventually, if you carry on reading this blog for any length of time, you will realise that I am an experimenter. I really like experimenting with my images, and images of myself in particular (after I’ve experimented with changing the way I look with wigs, clothes and make up, obviously). I’ve had an idea to…

Photography: Rasterbator

You can find Rasterbator here. Rasterbator.net is a website that you can use to produce wall art from your photographs. Vorticism started in 1914 in London and encompassed sculpture, photography, painting, woodcuts and graphic design. The movement, which was a ‘response to French Cubism and Italian Futurism’ (1) was…

Art: Lino Printing

Originally from my Expressing Your Vision blog, April 26 2018  This week I did some art work at home – I’d been stuck in with a bad back and it was bad enough that I couldn’t play violin, so violin time turned into art time and I made myself do some lino cutting to stay…

Photography: Teaching a Cyanotype Workshop

July 18, 2018 I had my first taste of teaching photography to teenagers yesterday (other than my own children of course). Pauline of Artisan Studios in Bournemouth invited me to the home educated teens art class to teach them how to make cyanotypes so that they could learn a new technique, have a chilled final…

Photography: A Portfolio from 2017

PORTFOLIO These images represent a selection taken while studying ‘Expressing Your Vision’ with the Open College of the Arts. Some are assignment work, others are personal explorations.   Two iPhone self portraits using the period tracking app ‘Clue’ to explore female stereotypes and representation. This was a personal exploration inspired by the work of a…

Photography: Beach Cycling

These images were taken on 28th March 2019 on a cycle from Sandbanks in Poole to Bournemouth Pier, using an iPhone 8+ and a Fujifilm XT-2 with a cheap Meike wide angle lens. Mainly unedited at the moment, they represent a mixture of success and failure – I think it’s important to show both!
